Webinar: Civics In Action - Learning That Changes The World
This video was produced by YouthREX.
HERE'S HOW THE CREATORS DESCRIBE THIS VIDEO:
There is strong evidence that academic and civic engagement are mutually reinforcing. When young people are supported to explore an issue of relevance to them and have an opportunity to meaningfully respond, they gain experience practicing active citizenship and are more likely to remain engaged citizens in the future. Active citizenship is more than voting and requires an understanding beyond “how a bill becomes a law”. Active citizenship demonstrates how change can be made, in partnership with others and through democratic processes.
Watch our webinar featuring the DILA Youth Program from Ottawa and Generation Citizen from the United States to learn about their innovative model and approach to supporting young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in our democracy as active citizens. The presenters share examples from experience as well as the research and evaluation outcomes of their respective models. Join the discussion about how to bring Civic Engagement and Action, Political Inquiry and Skills Development, and Civic Awareness to life.
